Preparing the Next Generation of Creatives with The Vyne Community School

One of the most rewarding projects STUDIOOFNEW has been involved in this year has been its partnership with The Vyne Community School, introducing students to the world of virtual reality, digital fashion and immersive design.

Over the past few months, students have been exploring creative technologies that many would never typically encounter in a classroom environment. Through hands-on workshops, they have been learning how VR can be used as a design tool, creating digital concepts, experimenting with virtual workflows and discovering how technology is reshaping industries far beyond gaming.

The partnership has been built around a simple idea: helping young people understand that future careers may look very different from those available today.

As part of this journey, students are now preparing to support STUDIOOFNEW at this year's Basingstoke Festival, where interactive VR fashion and character design workshops will be hosted at Festival Place. Visitors will have the opportunity to step into immersive design workflows and create clothing and accessories for virtual characters, experiencing first-hand how digital creation is transforming the creative industries.

For the students involved, the festival provides much more than an opportunity to showcase their learning. It offers valuable experience working alongside industry professionals, engaging with the public and seeing how creative skills can translate into real-world opportunities. From fashion and gaming to virtual worlds, animation and immersive media, the project opens conversations about career paths that many young people may never have previously considered.

What has been particularly inspiring throughout the programme is how quickly students have adapted to the technology.
